3rd Riley visit...

Today was Bella's 3rd Riley visit where we had a CT schedule to see what her inner ear looked like and if she had an cochlear.

Playing with stickers and mommy's pen while we answered all the pre-procedure questions.
Minutes after Bella woke up from sedation and she had a smile on her face.
After her appts she went to the wishing well and got to throw pennies in
and was amazed by the glass elevator that went up and down.
Since she was such a good girl and trooper....she also got a Barney Balloon. As we were walking out of the hospital she said, "Thank you" and we know that we are the ones that are truly thankful to have a healthy and happy little girl! You aren't at Riley for more than a minute and you realize all that you have to be thankful for!

Bella had the lowest amount of sedative for her sedation to get through the CT. We had a wonderful nurse Marilyn who let me rock her to sleep before we got her all snuggled just right in the papoose so they could get all the pictures they wanted. We got to roll her into the room and sit right outside the door while they scanned her!

They also took a few extra pics for study on lung development they were doing on premature lungs! Since Bella had no medical history and was healthy term baby they asked if we minded if they used her healthy lungs to compare them too! We agreed since it didn't involve any harm to her and in hopes it would help other children.

We got back to the room and Bella slept for almost another hour which was normal for the procedure and sedation they had given her. When she woke up she had a smile on her face and was talking to all of us in the room, even laughing with nurse Marilyn. Of course they were buds because she got Bella a soft fish and Elmo stickers for being her "star" patient. She said everything went a expected and she did just what she was suppose to!

Then we were headed to meet with Dr Miyamoto to get the results. He showed us the scan as he looked at them... which was neat to see all the scans and compare both ears! It showed that all inner ear parts were there and that she has a cochlear. Which means when the time comes if we choose to do surgery she should be able to hear out of that ear too!!! Her ear canal is a solid bone as he assumed it would be which he will drill his way through to get to her inner parts.

We still want start any procedures until she is around 6. Although in the mean time we are to have a consultation with Dr Zeph the plastic surgery who constructs the outer ear. Also to have another hearing test and follow-up with Dr Miyamoto in a year!

It was a good day!

The hardest part for Bella was this morning when she couldn't have her milk because she was NPO for the procedure.

Tim and I walk out of there knowing that we have a healthy, happy child with no life threatening illness makes us happy and knowing that we are truly blessed!
